The Managed Services Specialist is responsible for resolving incoming technical telephone requests, service desk tickets, and email requests for technical assistance on a wide variety of hardware and software applications. Consistent customer care, quality standards, and reporting requirements are core competencies of the position. Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and fluctuations in workflow are requirements of the Managed Services Specialist role as well as the ability to multitask. All Managed Services Specialists are subject to shift changes to adapt to the business needs of the Service Desk.

  • Provide telephone support related to networking or connectivity issues.
  • Research hardware or software products to meet technical networking or security needs.
  • Document network support activities.
  • Evaluate local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN) performance data to ensure sufficient availability or speed, to identify network problems, or for disaster recovery purposes.
  • Identify the causes of networking problems, using diagnostic testing software and equipment.
  • Install and configure wireless networking equipment.
  • Install network software, including security or firewall software.
  • Install new hardware or software systems or components, ensuring integration with existing network systems.
  • Install or repair network cables, including fiber optic cables.
  • Maintain logs of network activity.
  • Monitor industry websites or publications for information about patches, releases, viruses, or potential problem identification.
  • Perform routine maintenance or standard repairs to networking components or equipment.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Previous experience troubleshooting and resolving issues with:
    • local and network printers
    • Administration of Windows Servers
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Exchange and Remote Desktop Services
    • LAN/WAN and basic network troubleshooting
    • Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365, Google Apps, Windows Operating Systems (Desktop and Server)
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to work on many tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including strong verbal, written communication skills, and excellent listening skills.
  • Extensive use of Microsoft Office.
  • Superior verbal and written communication; attention to detail; and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background security check.
